The goal of this community was to create a space for knowledge share, helping each other learn the best practices of self-publishing.
The goal of this community was to create a space for knowledge share, helping each other learn the best practices of self-publishing. Chandler and Sean Sumner (our Mastermind Community Manager) are both members of several other author groups and we found that many of them started out strong but as they grew, they got overrun with members posting links to their most recent books and asking for downloads.
With over 2,500 people in our group, many of whom launch 2-3 books a year, each day we would have multiple book launches and would take away from the intent of the group.
There are several author groups that are specifically for sharing the link and some even offer you to do so multiple times a day, but that is not the goal of this particular group.
Our goal is to still provide a way for our members to share their book launch with each other so we worked to find an organized way that people can know where to look each week for the new books launching by announcing them on the Live Group Coaching Call.
In the past we have tried to allow posts if someone shared tips first about their book then they could leave their link, but that quickly became very subjective and we would have to review posts on a case by case basis and it only made people upset with the process.
We had to make a clear rule that we felt was best for the community as it grows to keep it a knowledge-sharing author community and not to see it lose it’s helpfulness as it grows like many others we have been a part of in the past, and make sure that we are diligent about enforcing it.
The goal is to use this community and the course to teach you things to help promote the book that can be done outside of this community.
If you need to add your book to the book launch announcement, you may find the link to the form inside the group and if you have an ongoing promo for your book you can comment the details here:
